The soprano Alba Valdivieso receives the second runner-up prize in a new edition of the Palau de la Música Catalana competition.
On October 3rd, the Palau de la Música Catalana hosted the final of the 31st edition of the El Primer Palau competition, an initiative that for decades has boosted the careers of young performers and offered them the opportunity to debut on one of the country’s most iconic stages.
In this edition, which received 191 applications, only ten performers were selected to perform in the Modernist hall. Among them was soprano Alba Valdivieso, accompanied on piano by Carlos Bujosa, both Lied the Future 2026 artists.
Valdivieso won the second runner-up prize with a program combining French, English, German, and Catalan repertoire, featuring works by Benjamin Britten, Francis Poulenc, Claude Debussy, Salvador Brotons, Eduard Toldrà, Cécile Chaminade, and Fernando Obradors, among others.
